Our Corner Breakfast Nook

We have a corner breakfast nook in our corner kitchen in our corner house. We need to make it a usable eating space – we need our morning coffee, people! We’ve been browsing our inspiration files for ideas.

Built-in benches for the corner side would probably be the best use of space:

We both like the idea of a cafe-style area big enough for just us two (and our mugs of morning coffee):

The wall in our nook is too textured for wallpaper, but the graphic punch and color is nice:

The clean black and white look here with the industrial chairs reminds us of Amsterdam:

Warning: pretty pictures over. This is the “table” that was in the corner when we moved in:

Yeah, we know. Pretty bad.

Here’s how the corner nook fits into the corner kitchen:

Obviously, we have some decisions to make. Round table? Square table? Corner bench? Chairs vs. stools? What do you think?

I like the benches, that way there is enough room for MY chair!!!

I vote for the benches too….gram

Hmmm, I think benches. But if you don’t want built in ones, I saw a couple of great rectangular tables with benches at the World Market awhile back. Of course the size of the space makes a difference.

Cute with loads of potential, I could see an array of eclectic framed art on the walls. We made benches and sewed some cushions for our breakfast nook, but we also have two chairs since we are a large family. You can check out photos of it on my blog: http://www.julieloveshome.wordpress.com/2011/02/27/the-breakfast-nook/
    Good Luck!

  7. Julie, Your nook is BEAUTIFUL! Thanks for sharing!
